About

Ariel Wightman is a lifelong classical pianist and cellist with over two decades of extensive experience performing solo classical piano works, accompanying instrumentalists & choirs, playing in various orchestras & chamber groups, and teaching. She has played in multiple orchestras in the Eugene area, including playing cello with Riverside Chamber Symphony and playing piano with Eugene-Springfield Community Orchestra. Ariel has also worked with students at Springfield High School, holding cello sectionals and providing piano accompaniment for instrumentalists at events. In addition to performing and teaching classical music,

 

Ariel also plays keyboard in a classic rock cover band. She has been part of projects in the past that have performed at the Oregon Country Fair and released an album of original music.
Ariel’s teaching philosophy is centered on showing the student how to find implicit joy in their instrument. With a degree in psychology, Ariel is equipped to tailor each student’s learning experience to their unique learning style and goals. In her teaching she emphasizes correct and relaxed movement, encourages varying approaches to practicing to foster long-term success, and highlights patterns in music and playing to develop musical intuition.
