About

A native Oregonian, Julianne Shepard received her Bachelors and Masters in Piano Performance from the University of Oregon under professor Alexandre Dossin. She was invited to be the guest pianist at the Space City New Music Festival in 2018, has performed many years as an active member of the American Liszt Society including most recently in 2023, and was invited with the
other members of Dossin’s piano studio to do a concert tour of Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes, including a performance on Seattle’s classical music radio station.

Julianne regularly accompanies several choirs in Eugene including Oregon Children’s Choir, Shasta Middle school, North Eugene High, and Thurston High School. She has given several house concerts, is called to play regularly for Seven Feathers’ VIP parties, and holds the primary pianist position First Baptist Church. Julianne also regularly works as a collaborative pianist with students and at festivals at the University of Oregon.

Julianne has over fifteen years of experience teaching piano to students of all ages. She enjoys teaching children, is patient and kind, and has experience adjusting lessons to accommodate children with special needs. Julianne taught piano at O’hara Catholic School for ten years, as well as running a private piano
studio. She served as director of the piano program at O’Hara for three years.

Her piano teaching philosophy is to make piano music relevant to each child by selecting music that they know and love, while also developing appreciation for more traditional classical piano music. She believes that theory, technique, artistry, and music literacy are all important parts of a well-rounded piano education. She hopes to share and pass down her love for piano to the next generation.

In her spare time she enjoys knitting, cooking, reading, writing, dancing, and hiking.
