In addition, she occasionally leads her own shows at The Jazz Station and other local venues.
In her writing, arranging, and performing, Katie focuses on maintaining a growth mindset and staying curious about new musical subjects. Her musical journey spans a wide range of genres, including jazz, salsa, cumbia, merengue, bomba, gospel, alternative Christian music, chamber music, funk, rock, R&B, classical saxophone repertoire, and Irish folk music.
Katie’s goal as a teacher is to create a space where students can explore the music they are passionate about while feeling free to have fun in the process. Her studio emphasizes critical thinking, open communication, and strong work ethics—helping students grow not only as musicians but as creative thinkers.
